Guidelines for VMC Live

CODE OF ETHICS

As a courtesy to our teacher colleagues around the world:

If you are currently taking weekly lessons from your principal teacher, we expect you to discuss the participation in VMC Conservatory or VMC Live with your current teacher before you take lessons with us.

PAYMENTS

Payments can be made here
In case of technical difficulties with the video connection you are entitled to a full refund.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED FOR WEBCAM LESSONS

A computer with high-speed internet access
The following three items may be built into your computer, and you can use them, but you will get better quality if you have:

  • A video camera
  • A microphone
  • Speakers or headphones

Consider buying a skype/webcall headset with microphone and a logitech HD web cam.

We will first try using oovoo.com. Please install that free software in your computer.
You may also want to install a skype account just in case we have trouble connecting through oovoo.
We may schedule a brief (1 minute) test call a day or so prior to your first lesson to make sure the connection works.

TIPS TO IMPROVE CALL QUALITY

Upgrade your internet speed to the highest speed available through your ISP (Internet Service Provider) . Try to get a download speed of 15 MB and an upload speed of 4.5 MB or if possible, 1.5 MB upload.
Use direct connect to your internet rather than wireless.

Make sure all other programs except the ones you are using for the call are closed. The best thing is to restart your computer before the call and then only open ooVoo or Skype and no other programs until the call is over.

If using skype, go into skype - preferences - advanced - and in the box for incoming connection port, enter the highest number it will allow you to enter.
