Greetings from Beijing, where we just finished celebrating the 10th year of the Great Wall International Music Academy! It's been an incredible 10 years meeting so many amazing young artists from all around the world and we have been honored to help establish the next generation of global string soloists.
We are happy to announce the Great Wall International Music Academy 2014 Competition Winners, below.
In the Concerto Competition the First Prize Winner receives a full tuition scholarship for the summer of 2015, an opportunity for a solo performance in Beijing's National Center for the Performing Arts and a cash prize of $500 donated by Dixon Stein Fine Violins in Chicago.
Winners study at the Central Conservatory in Beijing, Shanghai Conservatory, Xing Hai Conservatory in Guangzhou, Taiwan National University for the Arts, College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati (CCM), and Cleveland Institute of Music.

Prof. Sassmannshaus will be in San Diego and San Francisco for Teacher Training workshops in October!
On October 18 and 19, ASTA San Francisco hosts Prof. Sassmannshaus at The Vi in Palo Alto where string teachers will learn how to incorporate The Sassmannshaus Tradition into their studios and obtain certification in the method.
On October 20, Prof. Sassmannshaus visits the San Diego area for a full day workshop and teacher certification at Incarnation Lutheran Church in Poway.

We are excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Starling Chamber Orchestra with a special taping of the popular NPR radio program From the Top with Host Christopher O'Riley on April 2nd at CCM in Cincinnati.
The show will feature the Starling Chamber Orchestra and will include solo performances by several current and past Starling Chamber Orchestra participants. Twelve-year-old violinist Skye Park from Lexington, Kentucky, a member of the Starling Chamber Orchestra, will perform Elgar's Salut d'Amour.
Starling Chamber Orchestra alumni 2012 Naumburg Competition-winner Tessa Lark, 24, and Charles Yang, 25, both also From the Top alumni, and Jonathan Miron, 21, will perform "Romance" by Joseph Hellmesberger for three violins and piano. The program will also include a prize winning pianist from the Juilliard pre-college and a teenage horn player from San Francisco. For the grand finale, host Christopher O'Riley will join the Starling Chamber Orchestra in a Mozart piano concerto. Don't miss this very exciting evening!
